چکیده

Abstract European canker is one of the most devastating fungal diseases apple in temperate regions. The causal agent, Neonectria ditissima , infects trees through wounds bark forming cankers that girdle stem and eventually cause tree death. Timely protection challenged by stagnation symptom expression after infections for a long period time. objective this research to use novel TaqMan PCR assay detect quantify N. during asymptomatic colonization wood. Pruning on branches cultivars Elstar Gala were inoculated with wood discs sampled at 2–6, 10–14, 30–34 mm distance from inoculation site 3 hours, 2 weeks, 4 weeks 8 detection quantification pathogen. detected 51% samples. This was more sensitive than culturing method detecting 11% An accumulation DNA up 34 observed without development visible symptoms. To our knowledge first time quantified absence symptoms canker. implications are discussed.

Draft Genome Sequence of a European Isolate of the Apple Canker Pathogen Neonectria ditissima

The Sordariomycetes fungus Neonectria ditissima is a major pathogen of apples, causing canker on trees and fruit spoilage. We report here the draft genome sequence of a European strain isolated from cankerous tissue.

Assessment of diversity and genetic relationships of Neonectria ditissima: the causal agent of fruit tree canker

BACKGROUND Neonectria ditissima is one of the most important fungal pathogens of apple trees, where it causes fruit tree canker. Information about the amount and partitioning of genetic variation of this fungus could be helpful for improving orchard management strategies and for breeding apple cultivars with high levels of genetically determined resistance. In this study single-spore Neonectria...

Draft Genome Sequences of Two Isolates of the Plant-Pathogenic Fungus Neonectria ditissima That Differ in Virulence

Neonectria ditissima is the causal agent of apple canker. Here, we present the draft genome sequences of two isolates of N. ditissima that differ in virulence. Comparative genomics will enable pathogenicity determinants to be identified in this plant-pathogenic fungus.

Delimiting cryptic pathogen species causing apple Valsa canker with multilocus data

Fungal diseases are posing tremendous threats to global economy and food safety. Among them, Valsa canker, caused by fungi of Valsa and their Cytospora anamorphs, has been a serious threat to fruit and forest trees and is one of the most destructive diseases of apple in East Asia, particularly. Accurate and robust delimitation of pathogen species is not only essential for the development of eff...

Variation in Host and Pathogen in the Neonectria/Malus Interaction; toward an Understanding of the Genetic Basis of Resistance to European Canker

Apple canker caused by the phytopathogenic fungus Neonectria ditissima is an economically important disease, which has spread in recent years to almost all pome-producing regions of the world. N. ditissima is able to cross-infect a wide range of apple varieties and causes branch and trunk lesions, known as cankers. Most modern apple varieties are susceptible and in extreme cases suffer from hig...
